This is the moment a man apparently hits his younger girlfriend and shouts at her until she leaves the room before continuing with his meal as though nothing happened.

The incident took place in the district of Marmaris in the south-western Turkish city of Mugla last year and was recently shared on social media.

In the footage, a man identified as 33-year-old Engin C. is seen lashing out and hitting a young woman, identified as 20-year-old Beste O., before he casually goes back to enjoying his meal.

After the video surfaced on social media, Engin wrote: “The reason I hit her was because she insulted me and threw a glass and salt shaker at me while I was eating.

“She did not file a complaint at that time. She continued to live with me for one more year. But when I wanted to end the relationship, she shared the footage on social media to expose and lynch me.”

According to the news site Internet Haber, Beste filed a complaint against her boyfriend after the incident, however she withdrew it on 4th December last year. Later, when she was allegedly beaten again on 26th March, she decided to share the footage.

Following the second incident, Engin was reportedly issued with a three-month restraining order and was jailed for three days for violating it.

In his statement, Engin stated that Beste’s allegations were untrue and that he has hired a lawyer to clear his name.

It is unclear if the local police are investigating the incident posted on social media.
