A pregnant Turkish teenager who wanted to marry her boyfriend when she was old enough has allegedly been stabbed to death by him over a social media post.

Anil Yolum, 24, apparently flew into a jealous rage when he spotted the message sent to five months pregnant Sezen Unlu, 17, who is from the district of Konak in the western Turkish city of Izmir, on 26th March.

It was not known who the message was from but he was so angry that he allegedly attacked her in the street with a knife, stabbing her 16 times before running off.

The young woman was a keen social media user and in one of the last messages posted to friends had shared the lyrics of Sezen Aksu’s song “Fugitive” on Instagram where she wrote the words: “Who knows if I will stay or die.”

She also added a picture of herself pregnant with the caption: “I’m looking forward to you, baby.”

Her friend said that she had entered into a religious marriage with her killer, but the official civil marriage was something that she was looking forward to once she was 18.
