A Turkish woman who fainted when her lover choked her and stabbed her in the stomach has managed to escape after she woke up on the sofa and found him trying to pull off her tracksuit bottoms.

The man, who had been drinking heavily and was shouting that she cheated on him, was unable to stop her jumping out of the window where she was found by her flatmate who raised the alarm.

Critically-injured Cagla Cicekci , 22, who passed out again when she was found on the street, was taken to a hospital in the city of Zonguldak in the Turkish Black Sea province of the same name.

When she was able to give a statement to police, she confirmed that she had been attacked by her estranged boyfriend identified only as Ufuk O., 40, because of local privacy laws.

She said: “I was in the kitchen, and he came up to me and put his hands on my throat. I then saw that he had a knife in his hand.

“When I came round I was lying on the sofa and he was trying to pull off my tracksuit bottoms. He didn’t succeed. He was saying ‘I love you and you betrayed me, I love you so much’.”

She said that when he failed to pull off her trousers, she managed to get to her feet and throw herself out of the hall window to escape.

The attack happened on 9th December last year but was reported by local media now after the young woman gave a statement.

The suspect has since been arrested on charges of attempted murder.

The victim said that her flatmate, who saw her lying on the street after she jumped out of the window, managed to take her to hospital by taxi.

Ufuk O. said in his first statement that his girlfriend attacked him and injured him with a knife.

Meanwhile, the victim claims that she did not attack her boyfriend and that she had not even held the knife in her hand.

The investigation continues.
