A Turkish doctor was allegedly stabbed to death after being tortured by her newlywed husband, who also allegedly tortured her son from her previous marriage.
Zeynep Erdogan, 47, a gynaecologist who lived in the district of Cankaya in the Turkish province of Ankara and married about eight months ago, started to argue with her husband Mehmet Erdogan, 47, at night on 8th May for an undisclosed reason.
As the argument turned into a fight, Erdogan tied the hands of his wife Zeynep and her 14-year-old son, who was identified with his initials as A. A., and allegedly tortured them.
Erdogan, who it is reported tortured his wife and son for some time, fled the scene after allegedly killing his wife with five knife strokes with a knife he took from the kitchen.
A. A., who managed to leave the house with his hands tied in the morning, informed his neighbours, and the medical teams who arrived a short while later could only confirm that Zeynep had died at the scene.
According to local news website Haberler, it was stated that A. A., who was hospitalised, had a cerebral haemorrhage and was taken into treatment.
An investigation was initiated after the incident.
Homicide Bureau teams found and detained the murder suspect Erdogan in his vehicle in the district of Umitkoy. He was taken to the police station.
The investigation into the incident continues.
