Aysegul, age not disclosed, and their 16-year-old daughter, who was identified as A. T., can be heard screaming as the incident unfolds on a narrow stairway.

The women manage to wrestle the knife from Tasdoven’s hand and throw it down the stairs.

Tasdoven then moves behind her and pulls on the scarf as the daughter continues to fight and scream “let her go”, spraying both of his victims with pepper spray and punching their screaming daughter.

Aysegul’s screams become hoarse as she is throttled and turns purple.

The person filming then attempts to get up the stairs with a pole to push the attacker off.

Tasdoven was later detained by witnesses and taken in by police and he told the 5th High Criminal Court of Kayseri that it had all been a misunderstanding, saying: “I held both of them to prevent them from falling down the stairs. Then my daughter sprayed pepper spray. I took out the knife to protect myself. The knife remained in my hand for only 15 seconds. I did not point it at my daughter or wife.

“Thank goodness nothing happened to my daughter. She could have fallen off the stairs. I was harmed for protecting my daughter. I love my wife and my daughter. I regret what happened.”

Aysegul survived the attack but had to have nine stitches in her neck and six in her hand.

She told Turkish news station Haberler she had been out looking at handbags when she was pepper-sprayed and did not know he had slit her throat until she was being attacked.

She said: “When I saw the knife, I understood that it was Okan.

“It was a miracle that the knife did not reach my jugular.”

After the attack, he was released on bail with a restraining order but then rearrested three days later when he went back to the house and threatened her again.

The court sentenced Tasdoven to 16 years in prison for ‘attempting to kill deliberately’ and 9 months in prison for slightly injuring his daughter.
