A Turkish man who allegedly throttled his girlfriend to death during sex and left her flat waving at the security camera is facing life in prison.

Cennet Tuba Tokbas, 22, a final year student at Pamukkale University Department of Art, met with her boyfriend Eray Hakver, 24, who she has been seeing for two months, at her house in the Turkish province of Denizli on 10th November 2020.

According to the news site Bursa Hakimiyet, Eray allegedly choked and killed Cennet Tuba during sex. Then, after feeding Cennet Tuba’s cat, Eray left the house and waved to the security camera.

Eray told his mother that his girlfriend might be dead as she was lying still on the floor when he left her.

The mother immediately called the police and reported what her son had said.

Eray, whose testimony was taken at the police station, said that he choked her girlfriend during sex and that she did not resist it.

Eray was taken into custody and an investigation was launched.

During the investigation, when Eray’s DNA came out from under Cennet Tuba’s nails, it was reported that the young woman showed resistance during the choking.

In addition, Eray’s failure to inform the emergency responders of the situation and his calm departure from the scene suggest a planned murder.

In the indictment prepared against Eray, prosecutors are calling for life imprisonment.

Eray will be tried in the high criminal court in the coming days.
