A Turkish teenager has been arrested for blasting his girlfriend in the head with a shotgun during a row at a party.
Ikra Nur Turksoy, 16, went to a friend’s house to party with her boyfriend, identified as Berat A., 17, in the district of Incesu in the Turkish province of Kayseri, according to the news site Haber Turk.
After drinking for a while, a row broke out between Ikra Nur and her boyfriend which quickly turned ugly and reportedly ended in Berat blasting the teen with a shotgun he found in the house.
Police and medical teams were sent to the scene after the incident was reported by other partygoers.
However, paramedics could only confirm that Ikra Nur had died from the head wound at the scene.
The police started their investigations at the residence and launched a manhunt for Berat after he fled straight after the shooting.
Haber Turk said that Berat was caught by the police and taken into custody shortly afterwards.
Meanwhile, the body of Ikra Nur was taken to the Kayseri State Hospital’s morgue to undergo an autopsy.
After Berat was taken into custody, the party host, identified as Osman C. was also detained by the police.
In his initial statement to the police, Berat reportedly claimed that he shot Ikra Nur when he was cleaning the shotgun and that it went off accidentally.
Osman confirmed that he was at home at the time of the incident, however, he said had nothing to do with the teen’s death.
The investigation continues.
