A man who is already on trial for murdering his partner’s three-year-old son has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing his own daughter, 14.

Harun Sezer, 39, was arrested for beating to death his partner Emel Oner’s three-year-old son, Alperen Ekinci, in the central Turkish city of Kayseri in June 2020.

Sezer, who is known locally as ‘Filthy Brother’, and Oner had lived together for one and a half years before he allegedly committed the crime.

While the murder investigation continues, Sezer was sentenced to 15 years in prison in a separate trial after being found guilty of sexually abusing his own 14-year-old daughter, identified as H.S.

The suspect was arrested on 12th October 2019 for the incident involving his daughter, who was from his first marriage, in 2016.

He had been released on bail with a travel-ban condition after the first hearing of the case in Kayseri on 26th February last year, and was acquitted in a subsequent hearing the following month.

However, the victim’s lawyer appealed the decision, prompting the case to be reopened and a retrial to be ordered.

Sezer was unanimously found guilty of child sexual abuse in the retrial and sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.

The murder charge against Sezer continues to be investigated, and Oner is also under investigation for the crime.
