A tragic suicide note from a young girl one week after she met a man who broke her heart has been rejected as rubbish by her mother – who claims her daughter was set up and murdered.

The young woman’s death took place near Hortu Cemetery in the district of Eregli in the central Turkish province of Konya, at around 3.30am on 1st April.

The lifeless body of Bahriye Buket Ilhan, 20, whose family filed for her disappearance, was found on the roadside, shot in the head with a gun. Bahriye’s body was buried in the Ucgoz Neighbourhood after the autopsy at Meram Medical Faculty.

She left a suicide note talking about her broken heart and how hard it was to go on, but her mother rejected it, saying that the man that she was with when she died had tricked her daughter into meeting him – and she believes she was murdered.

According to local news outlet Gunboyu Gazetesi, after the young woman’s death, Batuhan B., who was stated to be Bahriye’s boyfriend just a week, Batuhan’s friend Serkan S., Serkan’s father Abdullah S. were detained by police.

They have claimed that she suicide, and in his statement, two police, Batuhan said, “We drove to the empty land opposite the cemetery. Buket said that she would commit suicide there. She put the gun she took out of her bag on her head and fired.

“After she collapsed in blood, I took the gun out of her hand, and I wanted to commit suicide. Then I panicked and called my friend Serkan. Serkan came with his father, Abdullah. I gave the gun to them. They hid it somewhere.”

Batuhan, Serkan and Abdullah were arrested on the order of the court after the mother’s complaint.

They say that the message she posted on her social media account is proof that she wanted to kill herself, where it says: “I made a lot of effort to hold on to this life. No matter what anyone says, I tried very hard. I tried to love and be loved again. I did my best, but I could not succeed. But I hope you do.

“This life was tough for me. Life burdened me with things that I could not carry. I apologize to anyone who loves me, who is with me. You were angry because I was crying, but know that it was all a cry for help, you just did not hear.

“Mum, I apologize to you the most. Please forgive me, but I could not stand it. You brought me to this age. If it wasn’t for you, I would have stopped this long ago. Give me your blessings. I love you so much, forgive me.

“I was high writing this, sorry if I made a mistake. I love you all. I have a will: Please write this to my tombstone, ‘This is not the first time I died’.”

Gunboyu Gazetesi reported that the mother Sema Ilhan said the following about her daughter’s death that it was a setup.

She said: “The person they say is my daughter’s boyfriend was introduced to my daughter a week ago. They came together and set a trap for my daughter. Who knows what happened to her. I’m devastated. I want justice.”

The investigation into the death of Bahriye continues.
