Accused Alessandro Impagnatiello, 30, was arrested by the police in Milan after leading them to her charred body when he broke down and confessed.

Impagnatiello, his seven months pregnant girlfriend Giulia Tramontano, 29, and his secret girlfriend had been due to meet on Saturday, 27th May, to discuss their future.

But Impagnatiello never showed up and later allegedly killed Giulia during a violent row in their home, according to local media.

After allegedly stabbing her to death, he is said to have poured petrol over her body in the bath and set fire to her.

He then allegedly drove her gruesomely disfigured body away in his Volkswagen car and dumped it behind a building in Senago, a comune in the Milan suburbs, according to local media.

The killing is said to have been triggered when Giulia found out Impagnatiello was seeing a 23-year-old English-Italian girl, who has not been named.

His secret lover is said to have become pregnant in January but Impagnatiello had convinced her to have an abortion.

Impagnatiello reported Giulia as missing to the police on the evening of Sunday, 28th May.

He claimed that he went to work at 7am on Sunday and returned at 5pm, which is when he said he noticed that she was missing along with her passport, a bag and EUR 400 (GBP 345) in cash.

But he later reportedly confessed to Giulia’s killing after the police discovered blood in his car and found that it reeked of petrol.

Impagnatiello is now facing charges of aggravated voluntary homicide, concealment of a body and nonconsensual abortion, according to local media.

Family friend and baby clothes shop worker Tonia Pedata told local media: “We know Giulia and her mother.

“A cheerful, beautiful, sociable 29-year-old girl.”

She told how Giulia had been in her store just a few weeks ago to buy baby clothes.

Pedata added: “She was excited to become a mother and to give birth.”
