Meet the first-ever married woman with children to win a Miss beauty pageant and she will now compete in the upcoming Miss Universe competition.

Melanie Michelle Cohn Bech, known as Michelle Cohn, 28, has been crowned Miss Guatemala in a historic move after the Miss Beauty pageant loosened its rules to allow married women, mums and trans women to compete.

She will now compete in the Miss Universe competition in El Salvador on 18th November after receiving the Miss Guatemala crown on Sunday, 6th August.

Cohn reportedly convinced the jury with a speech about how she plans to support female entrepreneurs in her country, adding: “With that entrepreneurial spirit that characterises us, we are from one of the countries with the highest ranks of entrepreneurship worldwide and that only shows what we can achieve as Guatemalans…

“I am a mother, I am an entrepreneur and I am a professional. Today I am here fulfilling one of my biggest dreams.

“I want to be a symbol of inspiration and improvement not only for my family but for the entire society”

The mum of two was born in Guatemala City and is a media and public image graduate from Galileo University.

She works as a model and is also an entrepreneur, working as the CEO of the beachwear brand Luca Beach Wear.

Cohn, who has over 58,000 Instagram followers, has reportedly ensured that the company’s products are all made by deaf women, in a bid to give them equal employment opportunities.

She has been married to hubby Andres Matheu since 2016 and they are the parents of Luca and Bella, six and two years old, respectively, who she affectionately nicknames “my cheese feet”.
