The neighbour of this little girl who dragged her into the back yard of his house and raped her while his mum watched and then later chased after her and killed her to stop her telling anyone has been jailed for life.

The horrific killing happened when eight-year-old Eylul Yaglıkara went to the house to play with his children, and after deciding to rape her, he had persuaded the other children to go to their cousins house, and he then attacked her in the garden while his mother did nothing to stop him.

After the violent attack, which took place in the Polatli district of the Turkish capital Ankara on 22nd of June 2018, the girl managed to escape and ran off.

A short while later, her father, Ibrahim Yaglıkara turned up wanting to know where she was, and when he got no answer, organised a search party which caused the rapist and his mother to panic.

Ugur Kocyigit told his mother – Huriye Kocyigit – that he planned to find the girl and kill her, and the 7th High Criminal Court found it was confirmed that the mother had approved of the plan, and given her consent before he drove off in his car to track down the child.

Tragically, he managed to find the child before any of the other searches, and dragged her into his car when he took away and killed her before throwing her body into a pit and covering it in shallow earth.

He was given a life sentence for aggravated murder and sexual abuse of a child, and his mother was jailed for 15 years and 10 months for complicity in the killing.
