A Turkish dad has been jailed for raping his daughter and fathering her child.

The father was caught when another daughter ran away from home out of fears she could be sexually attacked next, and then reported him to the police when she was tracked down.

The girl, Ozlem Kuru, 17, was one of five children who helped out on the farm in the neighbourhood of Tekeler in the district of Karpuzlu near the Turkish city of Aydin.

Ozlem reportedly went to the barn 20 metres from their home saying that she would milk the cows at around 7pm on 3rd August 2020.

After not coming back for a suspiciously long time, Ozlem’s father Ercan Kuru, whose age has not been disclosed, went to the barn looking for her but she was nowhere to be found.

Not being able to locate his daughter for an entire day, Ercan went to the police and reported her as missing.

He even posted a public video online, sending out a touching message asking for help to find his beloved lost daughter.

He said: “I haven’t slept for five days. I’m trying to survive without food and water. Our life has been turned upside down.”

Police found the missing girl after 64 days in a house in another neighbourhood three kilometres from the small town of Tekeler.

Ozlem told the police that her father had raped her married sister and she ran away from home in fear that he would abuse her too.

Ercan Kuru was then arrested by the authorities.

The older sister, identified only by the initials H.A., confirmed that her father had sexually assaulted her and Ozlem was taken into state care due to being underage.

In the indictment against Ercan, it was stated that he had sexually assaulted his eldest daughter by giving her sleeping pills in August 2017.

He threatened her by saying: “You will not tell anyone about this, what happened will remain between us.”

Six months later, H.A., who had been trying to hide her swollen tummy, was revealed to be pregnant.

A DNA test performed on H.A.’s two-year-old child confirmed that the father was Ercan, according to reports.

Ercan has since been sentenced to 22 years in prison.
