A Turkish man has reportedly shot dead his estranged wife just days after she organised a loan to bail him out of jail.

Deniz Sabancaoglu, 34, is accused of shooting his estranged wife Arzu Sabancaoglu, 25, outside his home in the district of Sancaktepe in the north-western Turkish city of Istanbul.

The victim who has a young daughter with her jailbird husband reportedly used her sister to take out a bank loan so that her husband could be bailed out of prison, despite the couple being separated and living in different homes at the time.

On the night of her death, the young woman met with her husband of six years at his home. It is unclear why she funded his release, but, as they had a young daughter together, he was also supposed to be involved in providing for the child.

But an argument ensued, and the victim got into her husband’s vehicle insisting that she wanted to leave.

Instead, Sabancaoglu grabbed a pump-action rifle and shot his wife inside his vehicle.

The suspect then drove around for two hours with his badly injured wife in the car before finally driving her to the hospital, where he dumped her outside A&E before fleeing, according to the newspaper Hurriyet.

The young woman died shortly afterwards.

The local police launched an investigation and reviewed the hospital CCTV footage to identify the licence plates of the vehicle that dropped the victim off.
