A son who warned his dad would rather kill him than accept he was gay has been blasted to death together with his mother with his 63-year-old father then turning himself over to cops.

Piero Moriconi was arrested in the city of Lucca, Tuscany, Italy, following the deaths of 52-year-old Kety Andreoni and her 24-year-old son Mirko Moriconi on 24th June in the city of Camaiore.
According to the prosecution, he waited in the driveway for the car carrying his wife and son, and as soon as they arrived, he opened fire with his legally owned 12-gauge shotgun.

Five shots struck the victims, including several fired at close range.
The precise motive remains under investigation, but Moriconi the dad, reportedly described repeated arguments at home involving money and personal conflicts.
The case has also drawn attention due to past comments made by the victim on social media, in which he alleged his father struggled to accept his homosexuality and would rather see him dead.

In those posts, Mirko wrote that he felt rejected by his father and suggested he was seen as “the ruin of the family” because of his sexuality.
He said in 2022: “It’s awful that a father would rather you be dead than gay.”
Investigators are now examining the full background to the family relationship as part of their ongoing inquiry.

According to court documents, the dad Moriconi allegedly told relatives after the shooting that he had “got rid of them”, a claim now being assessed by prosecutors.
Prosecutor Elena Leone has added premeditation to the charge of double voluntary homicide, based on the statements made during initial questioning after the arrest.

The suspect’s lawyer Giacomo Fabbri has disputed the allegation of premeditation, describing the incident as a sudden act and saying his client was in a confused and distressed mental state.
He has also raised the possibility of requesting a psychiatric assessment, arguing that his client showed signs of stress, depression and impaired mental health.
The investigating judge has confirmed the pre-trial detention order, meaning the dad will remain in custody while the case proceeds.

The public prosecutor’s office has released the victims’ bodies following post-mortem examinations, with funerals expected to take place in Camaiore next week.
A candlelight vigil has been announced in the town in memory of the victims, as the community continues to react to the killings.
Investigations remain ongoing, with police continuing to gather forensic evidence and witness statements.
