A married man accused of killing his feminist lover and breaking her legs so he could fit her body in an oil drum and set it on fire before pouring concrete on the remains claims he did it because she had tried to blackmail him.
Cemal Metin Avci, 32, is accused of killing university student Pinar Gultekin, 27, who died on 16 July in Mentese district of South-western Turkish city of Mugla.
Also arrested was the brother of the accused, Mertcan Avci, who admits being confronted with a disgusting smell of burning flesh when he turned up at the murder scene in a wooded area near property his brother owned.

He said he believed his brother when he was told it was simply spoiled ‘meat and offal’ that had to be disposed of because the fridge had broken and it had gone off.
A court case is now got underway against Cemal who claims that he killed her because she had drugged him in order to take pictures of him with two men having sex with him that made it seem as if he was cheating on his wife.
He told the court: “I went to see new Pinar’s house where she had just moved in. We drank a glass of wine together. As the wine ran out, my body began to feel numb. Then I passed out.

“I felt hands on my body but could do nothing. When I woke up, I was undressed, and Pinar was trying to put my clothes back on me. I asked if she drugged me. She just told me that I had fallen asleep and that we’d just had sex, and she told me I should leave immediately since my wife was calling.
“I felt pain in my buttocks on the road. I could not understand what happened.”
“She came to my workplace the next day. She showed me some photos, which showed two men raping me.”

“She blackmailed me and asked for money. I gave her TRY 300,000 (GBP 27.300).
He said on the day that she died, he had another TRY 20,000 (GBP 1820) in order to get the images back, but said she wanted more.
He said: “She asked me to support her financially for her lifetime. I didn’t accept it and wanted her to get out of my life. There was a fight broke between us and that’s why everything happened. I’m very sorry that I couldn’t tell this before. It’s a very difficult situation for a man, I’m so embarrassed.”

Rezap Epozdemir, the lawyer of the Gultekin family, dismissed the allegations however as fiction in order to get a discount on his sentence by claiming that he was provoked.
The lawyer told the court: “The defense of all killers is the same, they all try to take advantage of the good conduct abatement. This is Turkey’s bleeding wound and we have to get rid of this.”
The trial was postponed to 4 January 2021 for further witnesses and for the examination of the forthcoming forensic report to determine the exact cause of death of Pinar.
