A 52-year-old convict released from prison during the COVID-19 pandemic has been arrested after chasing his young estranged wife and the man she was with down the street before shooting them both.
The incident took place in the district of Alanya in the southern Turkish city of Antalya on 21st March.
According to local media, Besat Dogan, 52, who previously served four years in prison for an unspecified crime, was recently released from prison due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the night of the incident, Dogan saw his estranged wife, Rabia Dogan, 34, riding on the back of a motorbike belonging to a man identified by his initials H.B. The jealous husband then followed the motorbike in his car.
The CCTV footage shows H.B. running along a pavement while being chased by Dogan, apparently holding a gun.
Dogan shot H.B. and his young wife before then fleeing the scene, according to reports.

The injured woman was taken to Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University Training and Research Hospital by ambulance while H.B. was taken to a private hospital.
The suspect’s wife was reportedly shot five times in different parts of her body and died in hospital the following morning.
H.B.’s treatment in the private hospital is ongoing and there have been no further reports on his condition.

The suspect, who escaped after the attack, was caught by police teams the next day and was transferred to the courthouse on 23rd March.
According to local media, when Dogan was brought to the courthouse, one of his friends in the crowd shouted “you are the man, you are the king” and the suspect replied “don’t worry, I will always do whatever I need to do”.
The investigation continues.
