Cop Shoots Fiancee In Head Then Turns Gun On Himself

A Turkish cop shot his fiancee in the head then turned the gun on himself after an argument between the couple in a parking lot ended tragically.

The shocking incident occurred in the district of Konak in the western Turkish city of Izmir yesterday (23 March).

Copper Firat Koksal, 39 was in his car with his fiancee Nagihan Uste, 33.

An argument broke out between the couple for an unknown reason which quickly escalated into violence.

Then Nagihan realised that her fiance was reaching for his handgun and the terrified young woman quickly opened the door and tried to put some distance between herself and the enraged cop.

As she got out of the car, he opened fire and reportedly hit her in the head after which she collapsed next to the vehicle in a pool of her own blood.

Firat then turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the head.

People in the area who heard the gunshots called emergency services.

Upon arrival, the authorities found that Nagihan had died at the scene whilst Firat had been severely injured by the self-inflicted gunshot.

Firat was taken to Health Sciences University Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital where he died of his injuries shortly after arriving.

The bodies of Nagihan and Firat were taken to the morgue at the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the shooting.
